Care Teams
St. Michael’s Care Teams are one of the many ways we support one another. Care teams are action-driven groups who support those who are going through a season of transition. Teams are designed to come alongside the primary support of family and friends, and connect St. Michael’s members to their spiritual home through acts of service.
Why care teams?
As Christians we are called to help one another. Care Teams are our way of being the friends and the community who can carry someone to the feet of Jesus just like in the story of the the paralytic man from Mark’s Gospel:
“So many gathered around that there was no longer room for them, not even in front of the door; and he was speaking the word to them. Then some people came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. And when they could not bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him; and after having dug through it, they let down the mat on which the paralytic lay. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, ‘Son, your sins are forgiven.’ ” Mark 2:2-5 NRSV
What to expect as a Care Team Member
Care Team Members will be part of a small group of people (4-6 Member Team) who will respond to the needs of other St. Michael’s members. These teams are not designed to be the primary support for any one person, but they are auxiliary support for the individual. Each Care Team will have a team leader that assigns members as needed. Care Teams usually work with someone on a short-term basis. For 2025, the Care Team will meet monthly, usually on the fourth Thursday from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. (Exceptions: April and December).
What to expect as a Care Receiver
If you or someone in your family could benefit from a Care Team, please click on the button below “Care Team Request Form.” Care Teams are assigned by the Clergy or a Care Team Co-Coordinator. As a Care Receiver you will meet with a team coordinator to explore your needs and how a team might help. Please note that you must be active at St. Michael’s and/or a member of St. Michael’s community.
