2024 Confirmation Registration Form

November 17, 2024, 10:30 AM Service

If you are being Confirmed, Received, or participating in a Reaffirmation of your faith, please arrive at 9:15 AM for a brief rehearsal.

Confirmation is for those wishing to affirm the commitments made for them at their baptism.  Confirmation is the sacramental rite in which the candidates & a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop (BCP, p. 860). Those who were baptized at an early age and those baptized as adults without laying on of hands by a bishop are encouraged to make a mature public affirmation of their faith, recommit themselves to the responsibilities of their baptism, and receive laying on of hands by a bishop (BCP, p. 412).

Reception is for those previously confirmed in another Church who now find their ministry in the Episcopal Church.  The rite of reception is available for those who have been baptized and confirmed by a bishop in another Christian church (that recognize apostolic succession - Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Moravian, or Eastern Orthodox for example) but who wish to formally recognize their new membership in the Episcopal Church.

Reaffirmation is for those who desire to recommit themselves to the vows made at their baptism. The rite of reaffirmation happens during the Confirmation Service, for those who wish to reaffirm their faith through the baptismal covenant and vows (BCP, p. 304-305). A Christian may choose to reaffirm their faith in front of the bishop or community for many reasons, after a season of doubt, after a significant milestone in life, or someone who is ready to reaffirm their faith in the Episcopal Church.
